Tattoo

“Life is so exhausting and so beautiful at the same time”. These wise words spoken by Lauren in class a couple of days ago really connected with me for some reason. The moment she said that, I wrote it down after a second of awe. “I should get that as a tattoo,” I joked. But, in all honesty, I would. Like I can picture it and everything, written in that cliche typewriter tattoo font that is unbearable and aesthetic at the same time. That quote is so lyrically pleasing and so true that I don’t know how to describe it. So I decided to write this rant of a blog in an attempt to explain that. If you think about it, that phrase is so true to all of the reading that we’ve been doing in class. With Great Gatsby, Maus, and especially in Song of Soloman. All of these novels main characters went through traumatic experiences, but also managed to point out the beauty in their situations at the same time. Often it took the form of describing nature, or the features of a loved one, but nonetheless these characters were able to find the beauty in something. It’s just like this in real life too. No matter how bad of a day you may be having, or how awful you may feel, there’s always something to find beautiful. The sunset, the sound of your friends laughter, the face of your pet. Life is somehow incredibly exhausting, and painstakingly beautiful, at the same time.

  1. That is a really pretty quote applicable to practically everything in life... and I really liked how you connected it with all of the books we've read in class. Plus, I think it's a great quote to live by. Hmm maybe you should get that tattoo...
